Writers in the Sun is excited to host an online reading and Q&A event with Cuban-American novelist Chantel Acevedo. A former K-12 teacher and a winner of the Latino International Book Award, Chantel is the author of four novels for adults and two novels for young readers, and now directs the graduate program in creative writing at the University of Miami. Acevedo’s work has also been recognized as a finalist for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction and with starred reviews from Kirkus. You can learn more about Chantel and her work here.

The Cypress Dome Society and Department of English coordinate the Writers in the Sun (WITS) visiting author series, which brings several nationally-acclaimed authors to campus each year. Authors give public readings of their work, present talks on craft, visit classes, and meet with students informally.
