The Cypress Dome Society in conjunction with the Writers in the Sun reading series is pleased to welcome author Rochelle Hurt as our first reader this year. She will read from her work from 1:30-2:30pm, plus time for a Q&A on Friday, October 12th, in BA1 121.
Rochelle Hurt is a poet and nonfiction writer living in Pittsburgh. She is the author of the poetry collection In Which I Play the Runaway (Barrow Street, 2016), which won the Barrow Street Book Prize, and The Rusted City: a Novel in Poems (White Pine, 2014). Her work has been included in the Best New Poets anthology series and she’s been awarded prizes and fellowships from Arts & Letters, Hunger Mountain, Poetry International, Vermont Studio Center, Jentel, and Yaddo. She teaches at Slippery Rock University.
